The Orchestra program at Shadow Ridge MS began in 2005 with the opening of the new campus in Flower Mound, TX. Since 2005, the SRMS Orchestra program has grown from 50 to 175 students. Shadow Ridge Orchestra students regularly place in All-District and All-Region Orchestras each year, are involved in the Flower Mound Youth Orchestra, Youth Symphony of Denton, and the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, and consistently win sweepstakes awards at the state UIL Assessment each year.
Students with no prior instrument experience are placed in homogeneous instrument classes for their 6th grade year and then placed in one of three upper level orchestras for 7th & 8th grade after an audition in their 6th grade spring semester. Students with one or more years of prior instrument experience are welcome to audition for an upper level orchestra before enrolling at Shadow Ridge. See the "Sign Me Up!" tab for more info!
Ms. Riddle is in her 8th year of teaching and her sixth year as the Director of Orchestras at Shadow Ridge Middle School in Flower Mound, TX. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2015 and her Master of Music in Music Education from Southern Methodist University in 2022.
